Break, Break, Break
By Alfred, Lord Tennyson

1
Break,1 break, break,
On thy cold gray stones, O2 Sea!
And I would3 that my tongue could utter
The thoughts that arise in me.1

2
O, well for the fisherman's boy,
That he shouts with his sister at play!
O, well for the sailor lad,
That he sings in his boat on the bay!4

3
And the stately ships go on
To their haven under the hill;
But O for the touch of a vanished hand,
And the sound of a voice that is still!

4
Break, break, break,
At the foot of thy crags,5 O Sea!
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to me.

break, break, break it is a strong word it indicates a deep grief on the death of his friend arthure hallam.

the speaker mourn the nature coz it didnt share the sadness and grieve with him the loss of his freid. the natural cycle doen't change .

The speaker here is very sad about the death of his friend. By the waves break, a stream of memories comes in the speaker's mind and he can hear everything as if it is happening now. Every wave comes with an event and it goes with it so nothing returns.

these comments are well.this poem expresses poet grief due to the sudden death of his friend.nature is very cruel ,it does not share him his sadness.Life never ever stops even by the death of close person.Life goes on inspite of our sadness

This poem expresses the poet grief. He sees a fisherman's kid hanging out with his sister, and he hears a sailor singing, but they don't cheer him up – they just remind him of the "voice that is still," or the voice of his dead friend that he can't talk to anymore. The world dont stop over anyone death.

This poem is written in the time in which the poet is bereaved over the death of his intimate friend with whom he spends happy times. His bereavement is immense and to crown it all,the nature does not sympathize with him and is very cruel. To sum up,this is the reoccurence of life and life continues regardless of human sorrows.
